Popshop Boise store, Graphic Design 3 class, September–December 2016
My Graphic Design 3 class collaborated to start our own pop-up shop (temporary storefront) in my Fall 2016 semester. We not only had to design the brand and displays, we also made all of our products. A lot of our products included print design such as posters and cards, and below is one of my own card designs that I contributed. It is a hand-drawn Christmas card that I edited, mass-printed, and then sold in packs of 5. Below is an in-situ image that I took of the cards.
Here is my final drawing for the card. I drew in pencil then outlined with calligraphy pens. Then I scanned the image and cleaned it up in Photoshop.
The rest of the card is a pattern which I also hand-drew. I drew several different characters related to the holidays such as doves, ornaments, and snowflakes. I then selected a few and created a pattern in Illustrator.
After that, I used the pattern to fill in the background as well as the wreath at the center of the drawing. I finished coloring in the design in Illustrator.
For packaging and printing, I printed the design on 100lb, linen-finished stock which was cut at 4x6 inches. I paired the cards with red envelopes and sold them in packs of 5 in clear, resealable bags. I added my personal logo and pricing on the back of the bags which I cut out on printable sticker paper.
